Like or Dislike the Book

I liked the book. The way the author used loaded words and phrases. The way he wrote so descriptively that it was as if i was a character in the book. F. Scott Fitzgerald is a great author and this book was executed perfectly.

The Mood

The mood of the story for the most part is very down. Very few parts of the story are happy like when Gastby meets up with Daisy after five years of being apart. But aside from these few moments the sstory is very dull and gloomy.

Setting

The setting is very important in the story. In one of the parts of the story Wilson is seeing these eyes, the eyes of Dr. T. J. Ekleburg and says the eyes are like God, watching eveything. They saw the death of his wife and who did it. The billboard of the eyes are an important landmark at that time.

I Would Change...

I would change the ending of the story. I would bring to light that Daisy was the one that killed Myrtle and tell Wilson that his wife had been cheating on him with Tom. I would do all this because i think it's fair that the people that did wrong pay for their mistakes and accept the consequences of their actions. I wouldn't kill anyone but i would make them somehow pay.

The Best Part

The best part of the book was when Daisy ran over Myrtle. It was the best part because from then on all the parts of the book started to unfold and it was clear who was really whose friend and who would stick next that person no matter what.

Least Favorite Character

My leastfavorite character in the story was Daisy. I didn't like her because she was a two face and only did things that would be socially good for and would only be in her best interest. She turned Gastby down after everything he did for her and when he died she didn't even have the coutesy to go to his funeral.

Favorite Character

The character that i liked the most was Gastby because though he was doing bad things for the right reasons and it was wrong, he fought for what he wanted and he never gave up on the woman he loved. I think that is an admirable thing.

Motivation of a Character

Gastby was the person in the story who was most motivated. For five years he had been bootlegging and doing other illegal activites to save up money so that when he and Daisy were to get married, he would provide her with the best life he possibly could. He was truly in love with her and it unfortunately led to bad things.

Minor Character Important Part

One of the minor characters in the story was Wilson, the husband of Myrtle the woman with whom Tom was having an affair. After Wilson's wife died by getting ran over he went and asked around about the people that had a yellow car and eventually, after talking to Tom, narrowed it down to Gastby. When he found out that it was Gastby that killed Myrtle though it was really Daisy, he took his gun and killed Gastby then shot himself.

Reacttion to Nick

When i first read about Nick i thought he was a good man. A man that was honest about who he was and a man that loved a woman because of who she was not because of the money she had. It didn't reall change throughout the book, he was always the good guy in the book and always did things fo the right reason. Unfortunately doing the right thing got him in a pickle and had him hanging out with bad people. But i always thought Nick was a good guy.

Likes and Dislikes

All in all i liked the book. it was a well written book and the plot was very suspenseful. It always kept you on the edge of your seat and made you want to keep reading it. I enjoyed the characters and the way everything connected and was like the Domino affect where when one thing happen it affected another thing and another thing and it led to the climax of the book. I didn't like that Gastby ended up dying. All he wanted was to be with the woman of his dreams and because he fell for someone that was a gold digger he ended up dead. I would have changed the ending. I would have put Gastby with a girl of more class, not just some girl thatw wants a life full of money and riches.

Summary

The book the Great Gastby is about a man named Nick Carroway. He moves to a part called the West Egg in New York. He is a bondsman. He has family in the East Egg which full of people that were born into wealth. His cousin Daisy and her husband, which is Nick's best friend, live on the West Egg. The story is pretty much about Nick meeting with this man next door whose name is Gastby. He is a very wealthy man and worked his way to richness through illegal selling of alchol. Gastby and Daisy, before he was sent off to war, were together. They were in love but Gastby was a man that came from a poor family and Daisy's family was rich and wanted her to marry a man of wealth and class. Her parents didn't approve of her being with Gastby but she did it anyways. They wrote letters to each other and kept in touch all the time but eventually Daisy met someone and she told Gastby that she was getting married. He was still in love with her but she had to move on, he had been away for to long. He was suppose to go home earlier but at the end of the war there was a mix up and Gastby was sent to Oxford College for six months. By then it was already to late. Daisy met Tom and married him. After that Gastby and Daisy did not speak for five years. Gastby knew that he had to find a way to make Daisy love him again so he started to do illegal business so that Daisy would have the best life ever. When Nick moved in and was invited to one of his parties and Gastby found out that he was Daisy's cousin he arranged a meeting with her. They had tea and from then on Gastby was the happiest man ever. They kept hanging out and Tom, Daisy's husband, was getting jealous and started investigating Gastby. He found out that he was doing illegal business and when the truth came out he fessed up it and told Daisy the truth. He told her it was all for her and she knew he was telling the truth. What Daisy didn't know about Tom was that he was having an affair with a woman in the city. Not only was it an affair but they had an apartment together and had a dog. When Gastby and Tom got in a fight over Daisy and Daisy tells Tom she loves Gastby, they leave. Tom went with Nick and Jordan, Jordan is Nick's girlfriend and a professional golf player, and Daisy went with Gastby. On their way to Gastby's house Daisy is driving and speeding because she's nervous. She Myrtle, Tom's mistress runs out to the car and Daisy doesn't see her. She runs her over and keeps going because she doesn't know what to do. Tom comes to the place where Myrtle was ran over and hears someone tell the description of the car. He comes to the conclusion that it's Gastby that ran her over and is infuriated. From this point on people get mad at each other some people die and the ones that were the ones to blame leave and don'e come back.
